Addressing a joint press conference here, Congress leaders Prithviraj Chavan, Raj Babbar and Randeep Surjewala said the nation wants to know the truth about the kind of business that Jay Shah, Amit Shah's son, had.
They demanded setting up of an inquiry commission comprising sitting judges of the Supreme Court.
They also asked the prime minister to break his silence on the issue and reiterated the demand for Shah's ouster as the BJP chief.
News portal 'The Wire' in its recent report had claimed that Jay Shah's firm saw an exponential surge in its turnover after the BJP came to power in 2014.
The Congress leaders said the Income Tax department should have probed the "mysterious" closure of the firm in 2016.
The Congress also questioned the manner in which Railways Minister Piyush Goyal came out in defence of Jay Shah by calling a press conference.
On October 9, Jay Shah filed a criminal defamation suit in a metropolitan court in Ahmedabad against seven respondents, including author of the article and editor of the web portal.
