The ADCP has been transferred with immediate effect and directed to report at Punjab State Police Headquarters in Chandigarh till further orders, a spokesperson of the CMO's said.
The Congress had staged a sit-in front of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's official residence demanding suspension of the ADCP for his alleged biased role in registering cases against the party leaders.
They have also demanded the the transfer of Ludhiana Police Commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh.
"Congress workers in all the 117 assembly segments will burn similar effigies on Monday," AICC Secretary Harish Choudhary said.
The Congress would show no let-up in its campaign against the drugs menace in the state, he said.
The party Leaders in a meeting urged DGP Suresh Arora, to re-investigate cases lodged against Congress workers and the arrest of a youth leader.
A violent clash had erupted between Congress and Akali Dal activists, which left several injured, on the eve of Dussehra in Ludhiana when the Congress workers tried to burn the effigy of 'Chitta Ravan'.
