Former minister and senior Congress leader Ameeta Singh today demanded imposition of President's rule in Uttar Pradesh to "improve law and order situation" in the state.
"In Uttar Pradesh, at present, President's Rule appears to be best option to improve the law and order situation," she said while addressing a press conference.
The former Amethi MLA also alleged that her assembly segment was suffering under "worst" conditions of law and order.
She alleged that there was a series of criminal activities like murders, dacoities and kidnappings in Amethi district, and said she has sent details of all such incidents to higher level police officers including the IG and DGP.
"Amethi needs direct monitoring by DGP (Director General of Police) regarding the worst conditions of law and order, especially its assembly segment under the parliamentary constituency," she said.
The former state minister asked Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to take stock of the situation in the district.
"Otherwise, the CM himself will be forced to respond to all the questions of public related to law and order" she said.
Singh also targeted local MLA and Uttar Pradesh Mining Minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, alleging he was responsible for all the negative developments in Amethi.
"Administration in Amethi has been totally paralysed and it needs complete overhauling including immediate transfer of incompetent police officials," she said.
