Congress leaders paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 27 death anniversary here today.
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee chief Su Thirunavukkarasar led a host of party leaders and functionaries in paying homage to the late leader, who was assassinated here by a suicide bomber on May 21, 1991.
The memorial of the late Congress stalwart was decked up, a variety of fruits and flowers were placed and an all-faith prayer meet was held on the occasion.
While a 'jyoti' was brought from Karnataka by Congress functionaries, several other leaders, including former TNCC president K V Thangkabalu garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi in neighbouring Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu and paid their homage.
