Senior Congress leader and former city unit chief Mahesh Dixit today told PTI that he was shocked to receive a message stating, "You have become a BJP member. Please complete the necessary documentation."
He claimed that such SMSs has been received by around 12 other party leaders including senior leader Shankar Dutt Mishra.
However, Dixit said he was a loyal soldier of Congress as he has been associated with the party for 40 years. "Now, in old age, I am getting the invitation to join BJP."
Meanwhile, refuting the allegations, Kanpur BJP chief Surendra Maithani said that this is being done by the Congress leaders to gain cheap publicity.
Our workers are are inviting common public to become party members or are enrolling those as party members who are giving missed call on the mobile number given by us, he said.
