Cong to raise Vyapam, Lalit modi issues in Parliament: Whip

Indicating a stormy monsoon session, Congress today charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with being "silent" on corruption issues and said he will have to tell Parliament the steps taken to "punish corrupt BJP ministers and Chief Ministers".
Congress Whip in Lok Sabha K C Venugopal said the party would raise these issues against BJP ministers and Chief Ministers and seek a 'satisfactory reply' from Modi.
"Congress will raise the issues, including the Lalit Modi controversy and Vypam scam, in both houses of Parliament when it meets next week," he told PTI here.
The party wants a "satisfactory reply" from the Prime Minister on the action taken by him against his "corrupt Cabinet colleagues and Chief Ministers" allegedly involved in Vyapam scam and Lalit Modi controversy, he said.

"PM Modi has said the main slogan of his government is 'minimum government, maximum governance'. But his style of functioning gives an impression that his is a 'maximum government which is silent on maximum corruption'," he said.
Demanding the Prime Minister to break his silence on the issues affecting the people of the country, Venugopal said "the people would like to know the action taken by his government against two chief ministers --Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan -- who are in the eye of the storm over their role in Lalit Modi episode and Vyapam scam".

He also accused External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj of "helping" former IPL chief Lalit Modi who he alleged had committed crime against the nation.
"We would like to hear from the Prime Minister on these issues. These issues will be definitely raised in the floor of the House," he said.
Describing Vyapam scam as a "scandal which killed 47 people under suspicious circumstances", the former Union Minister said the truth will come out only if an independent probe was conducted.
