Ahead of a meeting of Punjab Congress' the district committee presidents, party workers staged protest against former MLA Mohammad Sadiq accusing him of ignoring the partymen.
The meeting was called by Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar in a bid to strengthen the party in the state.
Expressing their anger against Sadiq, who unsuccessfully contested 2017 assembly polls from Jaitu seat, workers also alleged that his son-in-law of ignoring the Congress activists and helping the members of others political parties.
Sadiq, however, said he has not received any complaint in this regard and he will look into the matter.
"I told them that give me one proof that he (son-in-law) was taking money. I will not let him enter the village," said the singer-turned-politician.
Sadiq contested on Congress ticket in the Assembly polls from Jaitu but lost to Baldev Singh of AAP. He became MLA in 2012 assembly polls from Bhadaur seat.
When asked about the issue, Jakhar said he was not aware of the matter.
"But I want to assure people not only from Jaitu but also from the whole state that Congress is committed to serve people," he said.
Later, Jakhar held the meeting with district committee presidents.
He said the main objective of the meeting was to strengthen the party and to implement the poll promises.
"Suggestions were also sought from them in the wake of coming state budget which shall be conveyed to the state government," he added.
