Congress holds BJD responsible for infant deaths in Odisha

Holding BJD Government in Odisha responsible for spurt in infant deaths at Sishu Bhavan in Cuttack, Congress today said the fact that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is yet to visit the referral hospital shows the casual approach in dealing with the situation.
"The Chief Minister who has been on plaque unveiling, foundation stone laying spree at various places does not find time to visit Sishu Bhavan where so many babies have died in a short span," Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Prasad Harichandan told reporters.
It amply shows the casual and indifferent approach of the state government towards the problem which has led to an alarming situation at the premier referral hospital for children, he said.

Demanding resignation of the health minister for the failure to check infant deaths at Sishu Bhavan, the PCC Chief said no concrete step and emergency measure was taken by the state government to tackle the situation.
Stating that infrastructure in the hospital was grossly inadequate, Harichandan said BJD has no moral right to continue in power, particularly after the fragile health services are exposed.
