"Congress is alive and kicking. It is kicking very hard on its opponents," Mishra, general secretary of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee, said.
He was speaking at a debate on 'For India's sake, the Congress must survive' organised after the presentation of Statesman Rural Reporting Awards.
Mishra said in the last 100 days of the Modi government, Congress has been on the winning side.
Rejecting suggestions of dynasty rule in the party, he said the real power centre in Congress is not in Delhi but lies in the hands of the block Congress committee.
Political commentator Kalyani Shankar said that Congress must survive for the sake of democracy as you need a good opposition.
Historian Hari Vasudevan said age is not an issue for a political party for it enjoys immortality.
