At a meeting with the state Education ministers and Secretaries chaired by HRD Minister Smriti Irani, officials said that during the year-long exhaustive exercise, over 25 lakh consultation meetings would be held at the village level.
"The new national education policy is of significance for the future of the nation," Irani said.

Some of the themes which has been listed for the day-long deliberations today include reforming school education system, whether the abolition of Class X Board has reduced the learning level of students and what are the other reforms that could be initiated to help in better assessment of students.
The meeting would also focus on promotion of languages. It would discuss if education should be encouraged in the mother tongue and multi-lingual education in schools and what are the difficulties in implementing it.
