Police was found dead under mysterious circumstances on railway track and police were today investigating whether it was a case of murder or suicide.
The mutilated body of Rohit Srivastava (28) was found on the railway track near Shahdara in north-east Delhi last night. He was was posted with Krishna Nagar police station for the past one and half years.
No suicide note was found and he was identified by an ID card found in his pocket.
Police suspect he was run over by a train coming from Sonepat side. His body was sent to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital for post mortem.
Police said prima facie, it appeared that he committed suicide and there was no foul play. However, a senior police official said they were investigating all angles, including murder.
Srivastava was on medical leave for the last few days.
He was believed to be under depression due to a property dispute.
Srivastava, who joined Delhi Police in 2004 and became a Sub Inspector four years later, is survived by his wife.
