Taking positive cues from the overseas markets and increased domestic demand, copper prices rose by 0.36 per cent to Rs 375.90 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April month rose by Rs 1.35 or 0.36 per cent to Rs 375.90 per kg in business turnover of 5,878 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in June contracts edged up by Re 1 or 0.26 per cent to Rs 381 per kg in 736 lots.
Analysts said firming trend in base metals in the global markets before housing data from the US and a gauge of manufacturing strength in China, the two largest industrial metals consumers, mainly influenced copper prices.
Globally, copper rose 0.3 per cent to USD 5,964.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
Besides, pickup in demand from consuming industries in the spot market supported the upside, they said.
