Copper prices moved down by 0.25 per cent to Rs 453.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced exposure amid weak trend overseas and tepid demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month June drifted down by Rs 1.15, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 453.10 per kg in business turnover of 13 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in April contracts was trading lower by 90 paise, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 449.35 per kg in 1965 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by participants on the back of a weak trend overseas and tepid demand from consuming industries in the physical market, led to decline in copper prices in futures trade.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three month was down 0.5 per cent at USD 6,930 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange yesterday.
