Punjab Health Minister Brahm Mohindra today said he will not tolerate corruption at any level in his department and directed officials to pay special attention to de-addiction centres in the state.
In his maiden meeting with Civil Surgeons here, he said Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
Mohindra directed officials to strictly implement the policy at every level.
Special focus will be on de-addiction centres and Civil Surgeons will be responsible to fix any kind of lapses, the minister said.
He instructed them to regularly visit the centres and submit reports to him.
Mohindra also asked the officials to prepare a duty roster for doctors on emergency duty at least 15 days in advance to minimise absenteeism in the crucial service.
Civil Surgeons will also be held responsible for shortage of essential drugs and medicines in state-run hospitals, he said.
The officials have been directed to conduct surprise checks on availability and condition of ambulances at health institutions, the newly-inducted minister said, adding civil surgeons should ensure critical equipment are working.
He also asked the officials to be polite to patients.
The minister assured the people of Punjab that the state government will ensure the best health facilities for them.
