The assailants barged into the house of Abhimanyu Lodhi and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons killing him on the spot while his wife, Gita, also received serious injuries and died on way to a hospital in Kanpur, superintendent of police Vinod Kumar Singh said.
The couple's one-year-old son Surjeet was also injured in the incident and has been admitted to Kanpur hospital, the SP said, adding the incident appeared to be related to property dispute.
Abhimanyu had three sons from his previous marriage and had a quarrel with them two days ago, the SP said, adding that the eldest son was being interrogated.
