Court denies bail to man held for cheating insurance firm

A Delhi court today denied bail to a man who impersonated as an employee of an insurance company and cheated its policy holders by collecting premiums from them.
Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Kumar dismissed the bail plea of Deepak Bhardwaj, who allegedly cheated people by impersonating as an employee of Bharti Axa Life Insurance company.
The court denied him bail considering the gravity of allegations against him.
The police told the court that Bhardwaj was arrested after a case was registered on a complaint by Bharti Axa and he was booked for cheating, cheating by impersonation and forgery.
The company had in its complaint said Deepak was approaching people holding himself out to be its employee/ agent authorised to sell insurance policies and collect premiums.
Police said the company informed in its complaint that there were certain police holders whose premiums had become due. When the representatives of the company contacted them, the police holders informed that they have paid the premium to its agent named Deepak Bhardwaj.
It said Deepak had every minutest information about the policy holders concerning their premium and policies due to which they had no occasion to suspect him.
He also gave forged slips against the premium amount collected by the clients.
The complaint said Deepak has caused loss of lakhs of rupees to the company.
