Bhagwat had made such a statement forgetting the realities in the country, where social backwardness was still a major cause of worry, a resolution passed by the party's executive here said.
Reservation was introduced in the country to uplift and bring into forefront those who had been suppressed for decades, and it should be retained as such as they were still "denied" rights for education or travel in many parts of the country, it said.
The Left party also accused Sangh Parivar outfits of being in the forefront of anti-reservation movements in the country and said any attempt to sabotage the system should be foiled.
CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran, party national executive member Pannyan Raveendran and leaders K P Rajendran, Satyan Mokeri and K Prakash Babu were among those who attended the executive meeting.
