"India should not give an impression that it does not want to hold dialogue with Pak, which is seeking talks with this country. The dialogue should be resumed for betterment of the relations", CPIM State Secretary, M Y Tarigami told reporters here today.
It is not good for credibility and prestige of India, the senior Jammu & Kahmir CPI(M) leader said.
Acting tough, India on August 18 had called off Foreign Secretary-level talks with Pakistan and conveyed a blunt message that it was interfering in India's internal affairs by holding talks with Kashmiri separatists which was "unacceptable".
Terming New Delhi argument for calling off the Foreign Secretary level talks as "vague", he said "I am not satisfied with the reason for calling off of talks".
"Talks are held to resolve the issue, disputes, differences by sitting across the table and resolving them. If Government of India (GOI) felt that there was some reason for calling of the talks, it was better to hold talks and tell them", he said.
"Time and again border people face brunt of Pak firing shelling and migration. So it is time that they need to be rehabilitated to safe zones. You cannot let them die every time", he said.
On the issue of polarisation in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of elections, he alleged "some people in parties are out to polarise the Jammu and Kashmir on communal lines and this is dangerous. It will damage the social fabric".
