EU provides 250,000 euros for flood-hit Nepal

The European Union today provided 250,000 euros as emergency relief for vulnerable families that have been affected by the recent floods and landslides in Nepal.
"This emergency relief is a gesture of European solidarity to help those who have been worst affected cope with the immediate aftermath of the devastation," said Rensje Teerink, the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) in Nepal.
"The funds will focus on addressing the needs of the most vulnerable individuals, particularly women, girls, and those who are socially excluded and marginalised," said a press release issued by the EU's Nepal office.
Under the assistance over 6,600 beneficiaries will receive temporary shelter kits as well as a range of non-food items which include clothing and bedding, cooking utensils and cooking facilities, hygiene kits.

Following heavy rains, devastating floods swept through the mid-west and far-west regions of Nepal on August 15, leaving a trail of destruction.
According to latest data, at least 123 people were killed, 126 are missing and 67 were injured.
India and the US have also provided separate assistances for carrying relief works in the affected districts. India has provided NRs 48 million for the victims.
