CPI today renominated sitting MP P Lingam (Tenkasi) while announcing a total of nine candidates for the April 24 Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu.
CPI state secretary D Pandian released the list of candidates at a press meet here.
CPI had decided to face the polls with CPI(M) after the two Left parties snapped ties with former ally AIADMK.
Ties had soured over the senior partner's approach towards seat-sharing, with AIADMK remaining firm on allotting only one seat to the Communists, although they had pitched for three constituencies each.
G Palanisamy (Nagapattinam-SC), K Subbarayan (Tirupur), P Lingam (Tenkasi-SC), AS Kannan (Thiruvallur-SC), K Balasubramanian (Cuddalore), A Mohanraj (Thoothukudi), S Krishnan (Sivaganga), RT Uma Mahswari (Ramanathapuram) and R Viswanathan (Puduchery) are the CPI candidates.
