CPIM criticises Parrikar for his remark about terrorism

Criticising Manohar Parrikar for his remark that "terrorists have to be neutralised only through terrorists," CPI(M) today said the defence minister should explain the "loaded statement."
"Such statements are totally indefensible and reflect the hegemonic mindset of a section in power in New Delhi who are hell-bent to vitiate the atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir," CPI(M) state secretary Mohammad Yousuf said in a statement.
Referring to the remarks made by Defence Minister Parrikar, Tarigami said Kashmir is yet to come to terms after an era of unease, tension and a general sense of insecurity.
On Thursday, asserting that terrorists have to be neutralised only through terrorists, Parrikar had said India will take "pro-active" steps to prevent a 26/11 type attacks hatched from foreign soil.

"There are certain things that I obviously cannot discuss here. But if there is any country, why only Pakistan, planning something against my country, we will definitely take some pro-active steps," he had said at an event here.
The Minister used Hindi phrase "kante se kanta nikalna" (removing a thorn with a thorn) and wondered why Indian soldiers should be used to neutralise terrorists.

"In such a situation, the defence minister needs to explain the contours of his remarks and elaborate the context in which he has made this loaded statement," Tarigami said.
The CPI(M) leader observed that Parrikar's statement is a shocking call to act outside the law and suggests patronizing 'state sponsored' terrorism.

"It does damage the country's interests as a whole. The Prime Minister should make amends through a public correction of this statement," he said.
Tarigami also flayed the BJP president Amit Shah's remarks on Article 370 saying that the Article 370 is non-negotiable and irrevocable.
"Article 370 is not only non-negotiable and irrevocable but those talking about its abrogation are ignorant about the constitutional position and are bluffing people of the country," Tarigami said.
Accusing BJP of nurturing "ill-intentions" about Jammu and Kashmir, the CPI(M) leader said it seems that BJP was working on the behest of RSS and is mulling to "trifurcate" the state.
