While reviewing the functioning of JDA, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh emphasised on creating modern infrastructure in the JDA owned colonies besides undertaking new projects as per the futuristic needs of the people of Jammu, an official spokesperson said.
He also asked for proper demarcation of the JDA land to avoid encroachments.
Dr Singh asked the Vice-Chairman JDA to submit a comprehensive report regarding land, encroachments, if any, and the action taken to remove such encroachments.
Singh asked the Director Local Bodies and Commissioner JMC to suggest means and implement them to make their organisations self-reliant.
The deputy chief minister impressed upon the officers concerned to submit monthly report on works like sanitation drives, status of street lightening, besides the status of demolitions, birth death registrations received, issued, hygienic inspections so the data was made available online.
Singh called for visionary planning for catering to the population growth and increasing settlement in urban areas and directed for developing proper parking lots for convenience of the people.
He also asked for developing effective mechanism for the monitoring of ongoing construction works undertaken by the departments for creating valuable assets.
Singh directed to take immediate steps for capacity buildings in the municipal corporations and urban local bodies to add new concepts for the welfare of people.
Regarding shortage of staff, Singh asked for framing standard procedure and initiating the recruitment process accordingly.
