Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria Kataria said registration of cases under IPC sections has decreased by 14.27 per cent in 2016 compared to previous years.
In the year 2014, the cases lodged under IPC sections were 2,10,418 which reduced to 1,80,398 in 2016.
In a review meeting of the police department, Kataria said this could be possible due to alertness of the police.
"There is a decline of 11.88 per cent in cases related to women atrocities, 13.13 per cent in cases of SC and 15.12 per cent reduction in cases related with ST and this is an achievement of the police," he said.
