Crude oil was up 0.61 per cent to Rs 4,141 per barrel in the futures market today as speculators widened their bets, taking positive leads from global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in April rose by Rs 25 or 0.61 per cent to Rs 4,141 per barrel, in a business turnover of 2,353 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in far-month May was trading higher by Rs 22, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 4,148 per barrel in 154 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by speculators on the back of a firm trend in global market, influenced crude futures here.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained 37 cents, or 0.58 per cent, to USD 63.79 while Brent crude rose 33 cents, or 0.48 per cent, at USD 68.98 per barrel.
