D P Sinha moved from IB to Cabinet Secratariat

Senior IPS officer D P Sinha, Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau, has been appointed as Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat, a month after his batch mate Disheswar Sharma was made the IB chief.
The order of new posting for Sinha, a 1979 batch IPS officer of Tripura cadre, came late last week while he was on leave for nearly a month since Sharma was appointed the IB Director.
According to an unwritten rule, if an Intelligence Bureau official from a particular batch is appointed as Director, the others from the same batch or senior are posted out of the agency.

The other officer shifted out was Ashok Prasad, who was senior in the batch to Sharma. He was made Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Home Ministry earlier this month.
Sinha is due to retire in June this year while Prasad will retire in January next year.
Sharma will have a fixed tenure of two years and will retire in December-end of 2016.

In another order, senior IPS officer K Durga Prasad, who was shunted out unceremoniously as the chief of elite Special Protection Group (SPG) in November last, has been appointed as Special Director General of world's largest CRPF force.

The order of Prasad, a 1981 batch IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh cadre, came after the government regularised his 26 days as SPG chief to enable him to take up the new posting as Special Director of the paramilitary forces.
The 1981-batch IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh was unceremoniously relieved as SPG Director on November 28 when he was accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his visit to Kathmandu for SAARC summit in November.
Prasad was appointed as SPG Director in 2011 for a period of two years, which was extended by one more year in 2013 up to November 1, 2014. However, there was no order from November 2 to 28.

Vivek Dube (Andhra Pradesh cadre) and A R K Kini (Bihar) of the 1981 batch have also been promoted as Special Director in CRPF, which has over 220 battalions.
