With dance forms expressing different emotions, the show titled 'Fold to Unfold 2015: Illusion-Chaotic Harmony' organised by Japan Foundation aims to depict how one peels out one's layer and mask in the journey called life.
"I view life as pieces of paper. We all go on folding and bending our lives with specific goals in mind, yet we never know what exactly is going to happen when we unfold ourselves. This show is all about the same," says artist and the director of the show Yuko Harada.
The performing artistes include Yuko Harada, Kenta Shibasaki, Ragini Bhajanka, Suchet Malhotra, Suhail Yusuf Khan, Phil Williams, Gyandev Singh, Rachnika Goyal, and Himanshu Kohli.
Billed as a dance and music event, the 60-minute show incorporates a play of lights by lightning designer Gyandev Singh.
"This is the next level. This is what we call collaboration across boundaries. It's a long process of learning and sharing. An attempt to do something out of the box," says music composer Suhail Yusuf Khan.
Talking about the similarities between the culture of India and Japan, Suchet Malhotra who wears multiple hats as a percussionist and composer for the show says "both are eastern cultures and have a lot in common."
Harada, says she is willing to do more such shows in future and will bring more artistes to perform in India.
"It's all about exchanging and sharing ideas. It's about sharing cultures. It's not an easy process. But with the support of sponsors I think we can do much more," she added.
The show which was held last evening has a repeat performance here today.
