Danish woman gangrape: accused remanded back to JC

A Delhi court today extended till April 3 the judicial custody of six men arrested for allegedly robbing and gangraping a Danish tourist here.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Sudhanshu Kaushik sent Shyam Lal alias Bhajni (55), Arjun alias Ajay (21), Mahendra alias Ganja (24), Mohd Raja (22), Raju (23) and Raju Chakka (22), back to Tihar, after they were produced before it on expiry of their earlier remand.
"Accused are remanded to JC (judicial custody), All be produced from JC on April 3...," the court said.
Meanwhile, the police today sought more time to submit the potency test report related to Shyam Lal who had claimed that he he was impotent and has not raped the woman.
The police, however, rejected the claim of Arjun who had told the court that he was a juvenile and police kept him in illegal detention ever since his arrest in January.
The court was presented with the age-determination test report of Arjun from 2011 attested by the Superintendent of Children Home for Boys along with the present age test report.
The duo had made the submissions when they were produced in court on February 20 upon expiry of their judicial remand.
Eight persons, including two juveniles, have been apprehended in the case. The two juveniles are facing an inquiry before the Juvenile Justice Board here.
The police chargesheet states the eight persons, all vagabonds, had robbed and gangraped the 51-year-old victim at knife-point on the night of January 14 after leading her to a secluded spot close to the Divisional Railway Officers' Club near New Delhi railway station.
They have been booked under Sections 376(2)(G)(gangrape), 397 (robbery or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) and 392 (robbery) of IPC.
According to police, on January 14, she had gone to a museum near Connaught Place but lost her way back to the hotel in Paharganj where she was staying, following which she approached the group of men for directions. However, this group waylaid her, robbed and gangraped her for around three hours.
