Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today pitched for rain water conservation in the face of looming water crisis in the country and set target for construction of ponds.
The government has set a target to dig one lakh dobha (small ponds), 2000 ponds and renovation of 50,000 ponds under MG-NREGA scheme as part of rain water conservation, Das said here.
The CM, who inaugurated the 'April 30 to May 2 Ramrekha Mahutsav' said Ramrekha would be developed as a tourist place and a ropeway would be constructed there.
He said Ramrekha is not only a religious spot but also famous as socio-cultural place.
On the occasion, the chief minister honoured the family members of 'Veer Chakra' winner John Brito Kiro and gave cheque of one lakh rupees each to two girls for preferring education to marriage.
The Chief Minister appealed to the youth, having strayed from the mainstream, to return under the state's surrender policy.
Let the youth know their strength and assist in the development of the state, Das added.
