DBT gets praise in international anti-corruption seminar

The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme was highlighted during by several panelists in an international conference on anti-corruption held in Paris.
A G-20 seminar on corruption and global economy was organised in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) headquarters in Paris yesterday.
"The panelists in the seminar comprised experts from OECD, International Monetary Fund and World Bank as well as economists and researchers from leading universities.
"The Direct Benefit Transfers in India through JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile) was highlighted by several panelists as an example of practical implementation tool resulting in the reduction of pilferages and delays besides bringing down corruption levels," a press release issued today by Personnel Ministry said.

The panelists also appreciated the fact that around one billion people are being covered at a fraction of cost of similar projects in developed countries, it said.
The delegation from India is headed by Devesh Chaturvedi, Joint Secretary (International Cooperation), Department of Personnel and Training.
