A 50-year-old woman and her son ended their lives today at Turkapalli village, about 70 kms from here, over failure to repay debt, police said.
The victims were identified as P Ellavva and her 25-year-old son P Raju, police added.
"Following the death of her husband, Ellavva had borrowed money from private financiers for the marriages of her two daughters," Mustabad Sub-Inspector N Babu Rao said.
"However, since they were not able to repay the debt, Ellavva and her son killed themselves by hanging from the ceiling of their house," he said, adding that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
