Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Egypt on Friday to boost security cooperation, her official twitter account said.
She was received by Major General Emad Elgazaly, commander of the central region in the Egyptian Army.
"Smt @nsitharaman arrives in Egypt to strengthen to Indo-Egypt defence cooperation. She is received in Cairo by Major General Emad Elgazaly, Commander of the Central Region, Egyptian Army. @indembcairo," her official Twitter handle said.
Sitharaman is expected to return on Sunday.
Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry had visited India from March 22-23 this year to attend the 7th Session of India Egypt Joint Commission Meeting.
