Delanga-Puri line doubing to be completed before festival:ECoR

The double-line work between Delang and Puri would be completed before Lord Jagannath's famous Nabakalebar festival in 2015, East Coast Railway (ECoR) claimed.
The Railways said this as per communication by the Construction Engineers of East Coast Railway. "The progress of this high-priority project was reviewed by Rajiv Vishnoi, General Manager, ECoR with project officials. He advised the concerned Heads of Departments to put infrastructure development on the fast track and complete the project well before time," they said.
Apart from doubling between Delanga and Puri, Vishnoi has also directed officials to expedite the other project works like upgradation of Puri, Khurda Road and Malatipatpur Railway Stations, Road Over Bridges (ROBs), Limited Height Subways (LHS) and Khurda Road Station bypass for smooth train operations during the period.
Contracts for earthwork, Major Bridges, Minor Bridges, Electrification works for doubling between Delanga and Puri have been finalized, they said adding that earth works between Delanga-Sakhigopal and Sakhigopal-Puri are in progress.
Work on Major Bridges have been started and are in different stages of progress. Out of 29 minor bridges on Delanga-Sakhigopal section, 26 bridges have been completed and for other three bridges, work is in progress, the review said.
Besides the doubling work, work on crucial ancillary activities like Signal and Telecom Data Log Room and Engineering Goomty near Delang and others are also in full swing.
Data Log Room, Signalling & Engineering Goomty at Birapurusottampur, New Platforms, Connecting road to station, remodeling of waiting hall, extension & remodeling of Platform Shelter & Foot Over Bridge at Sakhigopal including different passenger amenities at different stations between Delang & Puri are also in progress, they said.
"Ministry of Railways has assured to provide adequate funds in 2014-15 financial year for completion of the project," they said.
