A Delhi-based builder, who allegedly introduced actor Vindoo Dara Singh to bookies, was today grilled for several hours in connection with the IPL betting scandal, police said.
"Anand Saxena was grilled for several hours and his statement has been recorded," a Crime Branch official said.
Summons was issued to Saxena on May 30 asking him to appear for questioning before the Crime Branch, which is probing the scandal that came to light last month.
There was a strong possibility that the real estate developer, who introduced the TV reality show winner to bookies, will be made a key witness in the case against Vindoo, police said.
Vindoo and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Principal Gurunath Meiyappan were among those arrested in connection with the scandal. Both are out on bail currently.
During interrogation after arrest last month, Vindoo told police he came close to Meiyappan, the son-in-law of Cricket Board chief N Srinivasan, in the past two years through Saxena, the official said.
Vindoo, son of late actor Dara Singh, and Meiyappan have been accused of having links with bookies and placing bets during the IPL matches.
As many as 15 people, including bookies, had been arrested by Crime Branch so far.
