In September last year, women personnel posted at the Provisioning and Logistics Department had alleged that inspector S B Yadav had used words pertaining to their physical attributes and made sexual overtures to them while threatening to spoil their career, if they objected.
After they had approached the then Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma with their complaint, the vigilance department initiated an independent inquiry by a female officer.
Following the incident, he was transferred to he 2nd Battalion unit of Delhi Police and yesterday, it was directed that his name be put on the "suspects list" maintained by the department, a senior police officer said.
With the inspector's name figuring in the list, his actions will be monitored closely and it will have negative impact on the prospects of his promotion and rewards.
"He will be kept under surveillance for a year since his behaviour was found to be upsetting. In case there are any further complaints against him in the year ahead, strict action will be taken against him," an officer privy to the developments said.
"He said that the women personnel used to report to work late and even if he assigned them specific tasks, they would delay them. Since he questioned them and rebuked them, they filed a complaint against him," he alleged.
Four months before the 17 women personnel had filed a complaint, a female cop, posted at provisions and logistics department, had also complained against the inspector to the DCP concerned.
