Delhi girl tops CBSE Class XII exam, scores 99.4 per cent

Delhi girl Sukriti Gupta, who aspires to be an engineer and study at IIT, has topped the CBSE Class XII board examination with 99.4 per cent.
Gupta, a student of Montfort School, Ashok Vihar, scored 497 marks out of 500. While she has scored a perfect 100 in Physics and Chemistry, she has got 99 marks each in English, Mathematics and Computer Science.
She is preparing for her engineering exams and will appear for the JEE advanced exam tomorrow.
"I was sure of my performance but did not expect to top the exams. This was certainly beyond my expectations," she told PTI.

"I want to be an engineer and study at IIT Delhi but I have also kept other options open. I don't believe in excessive planning but taking one step at a time so will decide about the future course after taking the competitive exams," she added.
Gupta's advice for those who will be taking the exams next year is, "to follow NCERT books strictly, not fall into study 14 hours a day trap and not expect any last minute miracles".

At second position was Palak Goel from Tagore Public School in Kurukshetra, Haryana with 496 marks. The third position was shared by Somy Uppal from St Theresa's Convent School in Haryana's Karnal and Ajish Sekar from PSBB Senior Secondary School, Chennai. They both scored 495 marks.

In the differently-abled category, Mudita Jagota, a student from DAV Public School, Faridabad is the topper with 485 marks. The second and third position were bagged by Siddhartha Biswas from Kendriya Vidyalaya, RK Puram and Raskhit Malik from Amity International School, Noida. They have scored 484 and 482 marks, respectively.
CBSE declared the results of Class XII examination today and girls once again outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 88.58 per cent. Boys recorded a pass percentage of 78.85 per cent.
Region-wise, South India has done better than others with the overall pass percentage of Thiruvanathapuram region at 97.61 per cent being the highest followed by Chennai which has a pass percentage of 92.63.
