The Delhi government today directed its officials to launch a crackdown on encroachers and said that land owning authorities will be held responsible if they fail to protect their land.
Convening a high level here, Chief Secretary K K Sharma instructed officers concerned to deal encroachers with tough hand.
The meeting was attended by principal secretary (UD), PWD's secretary, secretary environment, DJB CEO and other officials.
Sharma said all departments concerned should put their coordinated efforts to remove encroachments from public land.
"Land owning authority must take care of its land/property and if any encroachment is reported on such land that authority will be made responsible for encroachment of such land," he said.
The authorities should curb the encroachment menace by keeping an eye on their lower staff and its nexus with encroachers and land mafia.
He advised the revenue department to demarcate forest land immediately and inform the secretary environment and Forest Department.
He also suggested activating and energising district task forces and sub-divisional level special task forces to remove the encroachments.
The CS also advised them to take help of police with special request to principal secretary (Home) of Delhi Government.
