The Delhi government today temporarily suspended distribution of ration through e-PoS (electronic point of sale) system with immediate effect.
Department of food supplies and consumer affairs has issued a circular, asking Fair Price Shop (FPS) owners that distribution of ration will be made manually to the ration-card holder as earlier.
Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia had recently said that the government had found "open theft" in delivery of ration and demanded the suspension of e-PoS system under which beneficiaries were given ration after biometric identification.
The circular stated that, "Detail of the card holder i.e., ration card number, name of beneficiary and mobile number will be generated in the sale register. FPS owner will take signature/thumb impression of the beneficiaries in the register."
