The Home department asked the Law and Justice department whether there is a need to file a fresh FIR in the case or include Bharti's name in the existing FIR, sources in the government said today.
Lt Governor Najeeb Jung had ordered an inquiry into the incident which took place in January and involved Bharti leading a group of locals on a midnight raid on some African residents of Khirki Extension in South Delhi.
Initially, he had demanded that police raid the place. However, when the they refused, saying they had no warrant to do so, he allegedly led the mob on the raid.
The inquiry report, which was submitted to Jung, was on February 28 forwarded to Home and Law and Justice departments seeking their views on it within two days.
The probe, which was conducted by retired Additional District and Session Judge BL Garg, has prima facie not found credence into the allegations of the former Delhi Law Minister.
Delhi Police had registered a case in the matter on January 19 against unknown persons.
