Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu today said that the "step motherly" treatment meted out to the city during the past decade would be rectified and development would be carried out in full steam.
The Congress leader was addressing a gathering on the occasion of starting scores of development-oriented works, including modifying the sewerage system under the AMRUT scheme at a cost of Rs 163.60 crore and providing clean drinking water to the people of the city.
Sidhu announced a special grant of Rs 10 crore for development-centric projects.
He said the "step motherly" treatment meted out to Abohar during the past decade would be rectified.
The minister said Abohar got 420th ranking on hygienic index previously but soon "unprecedented" development would be carried out which would propel the city amongst top 10 cities.
He said that no stone would be left unturned to speed up the development projects in the city and turn it into a bastion of progress.
The Congress leader also came down heavily on the previous SAD-BJP regime for exploiting the people of the state during the past 10 years and being involved in scams.
Sidhu also elaborated that the probe regarding the illegal encroachments during the tenure of the SAD-BJP government was in final stages and soon the culprits would be behind the bars.
