In his Independence Day message to the people, the Chief Minister said both internal and external dimensions of the Kashmir issue required equal focus.

Omar was hopeful that the dialogue process restarted between India and Pakistan will yield results.

He expressed the confidence that while discussing the major issues, the two countries will devote attention to resolving smaller issues like converting Cross LoC Trade into normal trade from the present barter status.

He was also hopeful that the visa regime would be made easy and the implementation of a rehabilitation policy for youth would be taken up in the upcoming Foreign Ministers
