"The discussion between India and Pakistan should continue. The DG-level talk has been a positive development. Despite all ups and downs (cancellation of NSA -level discussion last month) these talks took place.
"...Now talks should take place at higher level and both sides should work on the agenda. Dialogue is the only way forward to settle the bilateral problems," CPI national secretary D Raja told PTI on the sidelines of party's two-day national executive which got underway here today.
The two sides also inked some new confidence building measures and signed a joint record of discussions which emphasised the need to ensure security and well-being of their border populations.
The two countries, sources said, also agreed to stop ceasefire violations along the International Border (IB) "through enhanced communication via multiple modes at all possible levels".
