arrested by a joint team of the Gujarat and Odisha police for stealing diamonds from a Gujarati diamond trader.
Laxman Biswal of Khairpali in Deogarh district and Duryodhan Bisi and Birendera Pradhan of Boudh were arrested and 32 packets of diamonds valued at Rs 85 lakh were recovered from them last night, police sources said.
The three stole the diamonds from trader Suresh Kantilal Meheta while negotiating the price at a hotel in Surat.
Meheta reported the matter to the Mahidarpura police station in Surat and the case was handed over to Crime Branch of Gujrat.
After being informed about the presence of the three in Sambalpur region, the Gujarat crime branch police informed Deputy Inspector General of Police, Northern Range, Sanjay Kumar and asked for assistance to nab them and a special team was formed.
The Gujarat police returned with the three arrested persons last night.
