DIG reminds senior officials of duty to act impartially

In the backdrop of Mangaluru DySP M K Ganapathy's alleged suicide alleging harassment by top officials, a senior Police officer in the rank of Deputy Inspector General in Karnataka has reminded senior officials that its their "utmost" duty to act impartially, without grudge and to counsel the juniors.
DIG D Roopa Moudgil, who is now posted as Additional Mission Director Sakala Mission, in a series of tweets has alsosaid that most difficult thing was to disobey orders of seniorofficers and not politicians.
"Every govt servant knows the most difficult thing isto disobey orders of senior officers not politicians," Moudgil in a tweet said.

She said "It's the utmost duty of senior officers toact impartially, without grudge and to counsel the juniors. Can't wish away this responsibility."
"It's minimum expected of senior officers that they don't pass on illegal orders of politicians to juniors -responsibility more on officers," she added.
Her tweets gain significance as it comes a day after Ganapathy was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a room at a lodge in Madikeri.

In another case on July 5, body of DySP of Chikkamagaluru sub-division Kallappa Handibag (35), accused ofkidnapping a person for ransom, was found hanging in hisfather-in-law's home at Murgod in Belagavi district. Hisfamily has alleged harassment from senior officials.

Also a woman DySP Anupama Shenoy had resigned from her post last month over alleged interference in her work by a Minister.
She had alleged harassment by seniors underpolitical pressure.
Reacting to Shenoy's decision to resign had onJune 6 tweeted "Resigning is NOT d way. Resigning attitude tolife won't take u anywhere. Purandaradasa said eesabeku, iddu jaisabeku. (Swim against tide n win).
