Legendary actor Rajesh Khanna's wife and actress Dimple Kapadia today expressed her desire to have a city road named after the superstar.
Fondly known as 'Kaka' among his colleagues in the industry, the actor passed away on July 18 last year after being critically ill.
"Kakaji was remembered not only as an actor, but as a Congressman. We would request Rajiv Shukla (MP) to have Carter Road named after Rajesh Khanna.... Its a request," Dimple told reporters here at an event.
In response, Shukla said, "His contribution is immense to the film world and as a Parliamentarian. He had a huge fan-following. I would request the Urban Development Ministry about this... We hope the road will be named after Kakaji," Shukla said.
"I will have to talk to Chief Minister (Prithviraj Chavan) to ascertain if Carter Road is not named after Naushadji (music composer Naushad Ali)," he added.
Dimple, her daughter Twinkle and son-in-law Akshay Kumar were present along with several Bollywood personalities for the unveiling of Khanna's statue here.
Khanna, the first superstar of Indian cinema, had given 15 consecutive solo hit films, a record that remains unbroken till today.
