"300 low floor buses and 100 mini buses will be plying soon in various localities including Greater Kailash-I," the DMRC informed a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Siddharth Mridul.
DMRC apprised the court of the number of buses after it had sought their response during hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by an RTI activist raising concern over no feeder buses from Delhi Metro stations to various interior localities including Greater Kailash-I.
"Transport Department has approved running of Metro Feeder Bus services on two routes at present -- Route No. ML-74 from Hauz Khas to Amar Colony via lady Sri Ram College, Greater Kailash, Police Station Siri Fort Marg, Gargi College, Kamla Nehru College and Hauz Khas, and Route No.ML-77 from East of Kailash to Chittranjan Park via Savitri Cinema, Videsh Sanchar Enclave, GK-1, Zamrudpur, East of Kailash Metro Station," DMRC said in its reply.
The court directed DMRC to deploy atleast one bus on Greater Kailash-I route within four weeks from today.
RTI activist Mahesh K Gupta sought direction for stricter implementation of pollution check norms.
The plea demanded strict action against vehicle owners who do not possess valid pollution certificates.
It had also sought setting up of more pollution checking units across the capital, saying the present 663 outlets were "insufficient".
The government informed the court that it is carrying out a drive to ensure that all vehicles in Delhi are checked for pollution and that all vehicles plying here required to carry a PUC certificate.
