An FIR lodged in this connection said the unidentified men came to Dr Ram Bachchan Choudhary's house on April 30 and asked him to accompany them for treatment of a patient. But he has not returned yet, they said.
Gumla Deputy Commissioner Gouri Shankar Minz said police has launched raids to trace the doctor.
Meanwhile, Dr B Mahato, one of the doctors at the Sadar Hospital, said except for emergency services the medical staff struck work today in protest against the abduction.
They took out a procession demanding immediate release of the doctor and warned that the medical staff would go on strike from May 5 if he was not released.
