Ashok Singhal, a physician was found dead at his residence in Shastri Nagar of Nauchandi locality today with injury marks, seemingly from a heavy weapon, on the head, SP (City) Omprakash said.
The deceased's family has alleged that Singhal was assaulted by miscreants for resisting a loot attempt, who entered their house and stole money, he said.
However, police are probing the involvement of someone close to the victim as his mobile phone and other possessions were found to be safe.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and a case has been registered in the incident, Omprakash added.
