Doctor beaten up by relatives of dead patient

A doctor attached to the Uluberia Block Primary Health Centre was beaten up by irate relatives of a patient under his treatment who died today.
Manoranjan Samanta, the patient, was admitted to the hospital, situated at Chandipur in the Uluberia police station area, with severe stomach pain, the police said.
The doctor, Jitendra Kumar, administered an injection to cure his pain and asked him to go home. On way back home, however, Samanta died, following which the relatives stormed the hospital and beat up the doctor, the police said.
The police came soon and rescued the doctor and sent him home. On the relatives' persistent demand, the body was sent for post-mortem.
