The doctor Saravan said the Manager of his hospital who checked the stent stock found that dates given in the box and supply dates differed and the validity period for the stent was over.
A private firm had supplied the stent.
Stent placement is one of angio plasty procedure for treating the heart patient without surgery. The worth of the old stock was Rs 33 lakh. He however did not give the name of the company that distributed the stents.
He said he had given complaint about the company to the Deputy Director of health services. But the company had threatened him, he alleged. He had given a police complaint also against the company. The health department should examine the stents and take sever action against the company for supplying stents for which expiry date was over.
