A case has been registered against three doctors and nursing staff of a state-run hospital here for alleged negligence leading to the death of a patient this morning.
The incident comes close on the heels of another case registered against the superintendent and HoD (Neurology) of the same hospital Sunil Garg over the alleged negligent death of a 10-year-old boy on Saturday.
The victim Rajendra Singh, who was referred here in a serious condition after a road accident from Pali last week, died this morning.
Meanwhile, the victim's relatives sat on a dharna at the MDM Hospital with his body and refused to proceed with the post-mortem until a case was registered against the hospital administration.
A case was registered against three doctors and nursing staff, who were on duty at the trauma centre, police said.
"We have handed over the body of Rajendra Singh to his family members and registered a case of culpable homicide against Dr Garg, Dr Devaram and Dr Sanjay along with the nursing staff," said SHO (Shastri Nagar) Anand Singh.
The family members of the victim had allegedly entered into a brawl with the resident doctors last week alleging negligence, which had led to a strike by the resident doctors.
The protesting doctors had called off their strike yesterday after two accused, Lokendra Singh and Ajeet Singh were arrested.
However, the hospital authorities have denied any wrong-doing.
"His (Rajendra Singh) condition was very critical. He was kept on life support system since admission," said a doctor.
Before the incident, a 10-year-old boy Rama had also succumbed in the middle of the doctors' strike at the hospital.
Garg, however, claimed that there was no medical negligence in any of the two cases.
"Rama was successfully operated and attended well post-surgery, similarly Singh was also given adequate care," he said.
